It all started when I returned from hunting with BA Outfitters, although we were skunked in CO for Elk camp life was at its finest. PA archery season had two weeks left and I held high expectations of what the woods would produce this year.  Monday Oct. 31 usually turns out as a pretty good night but this year I did not see a deer while hunting out of the maple tree and my evening stand along the bean field produced only 3 doe.  With the woods being white from the snow that chased us out of the mountains in CO the deer were real quite.  Tuesday morning Nov 1 was a exciting time in stand, I saw 4 different buck along with 2 doe, I passed on a small 3x2 and could not tell what one of the bucks was but I do know it was a shooter seeing the rack at a quick glimpse 80 yards away, had a real nice 2x2 45 yards away but he was not a legal buck.  Watching the two doe running around I saw a real nice very heavy 4x4, field judging to score around 115 or so.  At about 10:30 nature was calling so I decided to pull out of the woods and hopefully harvest Mr. Big Wednesday morning being that I could not hunt Tuesday evening.

Wednesday morning awoke to heavy fog and temps around 31 degrees.  I arrived in my stand around 6:50 (slept in a tad usually I am in stand by 6am but with the dense fog visibility was only about 30 yards I knew I could slip in undetected) anyways I hit my rattle bag lightly around 7:05 and within a minute I had a small 4 pointer 15 yards away,  he walked off and I did a doe bleat and had a small 6 pt in my lap, again I let him walk off for another day.  At 7:25 I saw a nice buck below me about 50 yards but with the fog I could not see his rack totally, I waited 5 minutes and hit the doe bleat again and BAM I had an 8 pt walk in from behind me, I gave him a few looks ( not Mr. Big) and decided that he was nice enough to draw on and besides it has been two years since I killed a buck with the bow. (all because I have been using the video camera to hunt with) I drew and the buck looked right thru me, way to go Vertigo camo pattern!!!!!! He turned away from me and then at 18 yards turned broadside, TWING the arrow flew and the buck jumped then ran off 35 yards and stopped.  I said to myself there was NO way I missed this deer so I got out the binoculars and looked at him to see blood spraying out each side, within 5 seconds he fell over!!  Game Over!!!!  Hope you enjoyed the story and picks!!!
